My approach as a counsellor

The most important thing in counselling is the therapeutic relationship, where you get to feel heard and understood. I will support you and provide you with a safe space where you get to feel accepted and you can talk without fear about anything which you wish to.

I will regularly check in with you to make sure we are working towards your goals and we are working in a way that suits you best. Meeting your needs will always be the focus of our work together. You will find our time together warm, safe and non-judgemental.

Everyone grows naturally towards the best they can be but sometimes events and choices can hold us back. We can explore at your pace relationships, areas of your life and thoughts and feelings which are challenging. Counselling will help you make the choices to enable you to move through life with a sense of satisfaction and fulfilment.

I will help you build trust and confidence in your self and in your own decision-making. I'll support you to improve self-esteem and understand and accept who you are and reconnect with yourself. I understand how the criticism and the judgements of others can affect you and through counselling together, I will support you to have trust and confidence in yourself.

Counselling sessions with me

You may feel apprehensive or fearful of 'what to do' and 'how to do it.' It might seem impossible to change or maybe you've tried before and not succeeded. Talking through your issues in a confidential space will feel like lightening the load you have been carrying. I will offer you all the support you need to help you achieve the changes you want.

We will explore why life feels tangled up for you. You will see positive changes happen and let go of behaviours that work against you. The feelings that hold you back in life will be unravelled safely so that feelings become comfortable and support you.

You will always be offered the choice of what we talk about each week and if you're ever unsure where to start, I can begin the session so you don't feel 'on the spot' and you can relax into talking about what's important for you.
